Look Less Tired & More Youthful

Treatments for Under Eye Dark Circles RI & Stonington CT

 Is this your skin issue?

  • Are people always telling you that you look tired--when you are not?
  • Are the bags, dark circles, or hollows under your eyes becoming more pronounced?

The Science: Under eye puffiness, darkness, and wrinkles

The skin under the eyes is very delicate and can develop red or brown discoloration, fine lines, sun spots, puffiness or “bags”, and shadowed “hollows”. Genetics plays a big role in the appearance of our under eye area. Dark circles develop because the blood and lymphatic drainage under the eyes is strained, stressed, and becomes “leaky”. Cells and parts of cells leak out of the vessels, deposit in the tissue, and leave that dark discoloration. Chronic allergies or sinus problems can add to the stress on the vascular drainage system under the eyes, leading to more leakage of cell fragments and more discoloration and puffiness.

The Solution: Non Surgical Under Eye Treatments

Everybody’s under eye area is different, and therefore requires different combinations of treatments. During your consultation, Dr. Under Eye TreatmentsDuke can talk with you about your under eye concerns, and create a treatment plan that uniquely fits your needs. Some options for rejuvenating the area around the eyes include:

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy:  Platelet therapy uses your own platelets to decrease the dark circles, hollow appearance, and wrinkles around the eyes. The PRP has the ability to create growth factors which stimulate your collagen molecules to rejuvenate, making the area more tight and firm. The platelet therapy  smooths the texture, firms the skin, and lightens the dark circles. The treatments are natural (your own cells), easy, and quick.

RevLite Laser Peel:  This RevLite laser treatments have been shown to both lighten up the deeper layers of discoloration, and tighten up the skin. Often times, both the RevLite laser peel and the fractional Matrix  CO2 laser are used in one treatment session to more effectively treat both the dark circles and the bags & wrinkles.

laser skin rejuvenationLaser Brown Spot Removal:  spots can collect under the eyes, and thus increase the dark shadowed look in this area. A laser targeted at melanin or pigment  can remove those brown spots.

Skin Resurfacing procedures range from mild and no downtime to more intense with downtime. Resurfacing helps improve the skin tone, reduce fine lines, and lighten up discoloration. Resurfacing procedures that are appropriate for around the eyes include: fractional Matrix CO2 laser, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels.

BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® : Both BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® reduce the wrinkles caused by creasing the skin when we smile or squint - called crow’s feet. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®   can also be used to slightly lift up sagging upper eyelids and is then called a lateral brow lift.
