Is this your skin issue?

  • Do you notice your skin is not smooth or has prominent pores?

  • Do you want to treat acne scars, wrinkles, or pores with a gentle no downtime treatment?

The Science: Non-ablative Skin Resurfacing - Stonington CT

Non-ablative lasers are a revolutionary technology in that they are completely no down time, require no anesthesia or needles, yet have an effect on the skin to make it smoother and more even in color. Lasers are unique light and energy sources that selectively target specific skin issues. Non-ablative laser light goes through the top layer of skin, or epidermis, without seeing it or affecting it in any way. Non-ablative laser are safe, non-invasive, and completely no downtime.

The Genesis laser light goes into the deeper layers of the skin, the dermis, and induces the skin to rejuvenate by:

  • shrinking blood vessels that are making the skin constantly red
  • breaking up fibrotic and bound down acne scars
  • inducing new collagen to grow to smooth uneven texture and wrinkles

Laser Genesis for Pore Size ReductionIn this way, the laser treatment reduces facial redness, minimizes pore size, decrease fine lines and acne scars, and smooths skin texture.

This treatment has been called many names, including "the lunchtime facelift," "Sub-surfacing," "Photo Rejuvenation," "Photofacial," "collagen tightening," or "laser toning" by different medical equipment manufacturers and in different media. The different names help describe the goals of the treatment - to tighten the skin as in a facelift; to treat below the surface of the skin and tighten the collagen while leaving the surface skin intact; to tone and rejuvenate the skin using a laser that tightens up your collagen; and to promote new collagen growth.

The Solution: Laser Rejuvenation - Stonington CT

Laser Genesis reduces skin redness, minimizes pores, and smooths skin texture.

Non Ablative Laser Resurfacing During a Laser Genesis treatment, the wand is moved continuously over the treatment site for 20-30 minutes. The treatment feels warm, but not uncomfortable. There is no break in the skin and therefore, no downtime following the treatment session. As the procedure is gentle, a series of 4-6 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart, provides the best final outcome.

Non Ablative Laser ResurfacingDuring the procedure, your entire face can be treated, or specific areas. No anesthesia is required. The superficial top layer of the skin is not broken, and there is no open wound that needs to heal. The skin may be mildly to moderately pink for a few hours - no after care is needed. The treatment is repeated once a month in a series of treatments. The number of treatments varies from individual to individual, based on your skin type, the extent of the wrinkles being treated, and your desired outcome.

The benefits of this treatment program are that it strengthens the deeper collagen skin layer - which helps soften wrinkles and tightens up the skin.  One study demonstrated that 70% of the people had a 50% or more improvement in their wrinkles. Most people achieve a smoother, softer look. The newer laser toning systems (such as the one we use) also effectively reduce facial redness, improve skin tone, decrease pore size and smooth out acne scars.
