Stonington Norwich Chemical Peel Candidates

A woman smiling, her facial skin smooth and glowing after a chemical peelDr Duke in Stonington CT offers new botanical based chemical peels for skin rejuvenation--will they help your skin issue?

Chemical peels are exceptionally effective treatments for patients who wish to rejuvenate their facial skin without having to undergo invasive plastic surgery. If your facial skin is affected by the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne, uneven coloring and tone, or spots, and you would like to improve its color and texture, then one of the several chemical peels available at Coastal Dermatology may be ideal for you. Our advanced chemical peels can be customized to your precise needs, helping to ensure the best possible results.

As with any other medical treatment, however, the quality of the results depends heavily on selecting the most suitable candidates for treatment. Unfortunately, not all patients who are interested in undergoing chemical peels are well suited to the treatment. At Coastal Dermatology in Mystic, chemical peel candidates are carefully evaluated to make sure that they will derive the full benefits of treatment and that the treatment can be safely performed on their skin.

Dr. Daniella Duke puts the safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction of her patients above all else. If a chemical peel is not the proper option for a given patient, she will advise him or her honestly of that fact and recommend an alternative treatment that will produce the results that he or she desires more safely and effectively.

Are you a good candidate for chemical peel? There is only one way to find out for sure. Schedule your initial consultation with Dr. Duke today.

Who are the best candidates for chemical peel?

Traditionally, chemical peels have been most effective on patients with naturally blonde or red hair and fair, thin skin. However, in recent years, deeper, stronger chemical peels have been developed, and these have produced good results among patients with darker skin. In general, though, patients with darker, thicker, oilier skin tend not to achieve results as predictably excellent as patients with lighter, thinner, less oily skin. Dr Duke offers many different types of chemical peels to best suit your skin type and skin condition. Learn more about the: different types of chemical peels at Coastal Dermatology.

Dr. Duke may not consider you a suitable candidate for chemical peel if you:

  • Suffer from a skin infection or disease
  • Are currently pregnant or nursing
  • Have taken Accutane in the previous six months
  • Have psoriasis, dermatitis, rosacea, or eczema

Fortunately, most patients who do not suffer from any of the above problems are suitable candidates for a chemical peel. Chemical peels are particularly effective at treating:

  • Fine lines that have formed due to the passage of time
  • Sun damage
  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Melasma
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Rough skin
  • Enlarged pores

While we commonly perform chemical peels on the facial skin, they can be used anywhere on the body where these skin blemishes may occur, including on the neck, chest, arms, legs, abdomen, buttocks, and hands. Patients generally emerge from treatment with smoother, healthier, younger-looking skin.
