Laser Treatments for Stretch Mark Removal

Laser Stretch Mark Removal - Mystic-CT

Slender legs with smooth, unblemished skinTreatments are available for stretch marks at Dr Duke's dermatology office in Mystic, CT. Stretch marks are some of the most dreaded blemishes that can develop on the skin. These marks, which develop in response to fluctuations in weight or muscle mass, can show up anywhere; they are especially common on the arms, breasts, hips, abdomen, and thighs. Dr. Daniella Duke offer stretch mark treatments that can greatly improve the appearance of stretch marks. Laser stretch mark removal is especially successful for our Mystic patients, making these blemishes virtually undetectable.

Laser Treatment Options

Many patients would love to permanently remove stretch marks from their body. Unfortunately, stretch marks cannot be completely removed. However, they can be treated and improved to the point that they are hardly visible. There are several different laser treatment options that can greatly improve the appearance of stretch marks. These treatments can be used either on their own or in combination to produce the most effective results for our patients. Below are some of the laser treatment options available to our patients who are looking to erase signs of stretch marks:

  • Laser Genesis: Laser Genesis penetrates to the dermal layer of the skin, where collagen fibers are located. The laser energy that is used promotes the growth of new collagen, which can improve the appearance of stretch marks.
  • RevLite Laser Peel: The RevLite Laser Peel is similar to Laser Genesis in that it penetrates down to the dermal layer in order to stimulate collagen production. The RevLite Laser Peel is best suited for patients whose stretch marks are white or silvery in appearance.
  • Fractional Laser: Fractional lasers are passed over stretch marks and place hundreds of tiny dots that extend to vertical channels into the skin. These holes are microscopic and do not result in any downtime for the patient. However, as the skin heals from these holes, new collagen is produced to fill in the vertical channels. This creates a more normal texture and appearance for skin that has developed stretch marks. Fractional lasers can produce the most effective stretch mark treatment results, especially when combined with alternate laser treatment options.

Maximizing Stretch Mark Treatment

Laser stretch mark treatments can be combined, not only with one other, but also with other non-laser stretch mark treatments in order to get the most effective stretch mark treatment results. Two forms of treatment that can be especially beneficial in improving the appearance of stretch marks is microdermabrasion and topical retinol creams. Microdermabrasion involves a series of treatments that serve to stimulate collagen production, smooth skin texture, and improve skin firmness. Topical retinol creams help to produce a thin layer of collagen over the surface of the skin in order to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. While these treatments may not produce significant results on their own, they can be quite successful when used in conjunction with laser stretch mark treatments.
