No Strings Attached: Treatment for Marionette Lines

Treatment for Marionette Lines - Mystic, CT

A woman touching the side of her face, her facial skin smooth and vibrant after treatment for marionette linesMarionette lines are the descriptive - and unflattering - name given to the wrinkles that run from the corners of the mouth to the edges of the chin. These lines are among the most conspicuous signs of aging and can make a person look much older than he or she truly is. Fortunately, modern dermatology offers numerous high-quality, minimally invasive wrinkle treatments for patients who prefer not to undergo more drastic plastic surgery procedures.

Dr. Daniella Duke is pleased to offer a comprehensive range of such treatments, including treatment options for marionette lines, at her Mystic, CT dermatology practice, Coastal Dermatology. These treatments can reduce the appearance of marionette lines and restore a more youthful appearance to the face for months at a time. Patients emerge looking refreshed and rejuvenated, without having to commit to the permanent alteration of their features required by plastic surgery. Best of all, treatments can safely be repeated as necessary.

Are you a good candidate for non-surgical treatment for marionette lines? To find out, we encourage you to schedule your initial consultation with Dr. Duke at Coastal Dermatology today.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers provide an excellent non-surgical solution to marionette lines. At Coastal Dermatology, we use two of the most reliable and time-tested dermal fillers, Restylane® and JUVÉDERM®, to restore volume to regions of the face that have lost fullness, including moderate to deep lines that have formed between the corners of the mouth and the chin. These fillers are extremely safe because they are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. Hyaluronic acid is a water-loving substance, meaning that it attracts and binds to water molecules, which helps it to provide fullness to hollow areas of skin over time.

Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® can be used individually, or they can be strategically layered to produce even more impressive and long-lasting results. The results of treatment with dermal fillers can last for between six and eighteen months, at which point treatment can safely be repeated. In addition to marionette lines, Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® can also be used to treat other lines and wrinkles in the lower third of the face. Most side effects associated with the injections, such as redness, bruising, and swelling at the treatment sites, are minor and temporary. Serious complications are extremely rare.

Patients who wish to achieve more comprehensive facial rejuvenation may wish to combine their marionette line treatment with other treatments as part of what we call a Liquid Facelift. The Liquid Facelift procedure includes Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® injections along with BOTOX® or Dysport® injections to soften fine lines and wrinkles in the upper face, platelet rich plasma therapy to stimulate new collagen growth, and skin tightening VShape radiofrequency treatment to tighten the skin on the face, jawline, and neck.
