Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) - Connecticut & Rhode Island

How do Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) skin treatments work?

skin and hair laserIntense Pulse Light (IPL) devices shine a selective spectrum of light on the skin. This is in contrast to a laser device,   which is only one wavelength of light.

The Limelight IPL device by Cutera allows the spectrum of light to be controlled, or more specifically cut off at both the high end and low end of the spectrum of light. In this manner, different “groupings” of light can very specifically target different combinations of skin issues. The “groupings” are called “modes”. A mode is used to target your unique combination of skin concerns: brown spots, red flushing, prominent pores, dull looking skin, or other forms of sun damage and skin aging.

A laser treats one skin issue and is selective for that single target. The IPL Limelight has the feature of treating more than one skin issue (usually both brown and red discolorations) with a single device. The IPL ProWave has specific groupings of light energy, or modes, which target excess hair. In this way, a series of IPL treatments leads to permanent hair removal.
